Today we had a visit from Trio Globo, professional musicians who performed different examples of the types of music that would have been heard and enjoyed on the Titanic.
Through their music, we learnt more about the different classes on board the ship. First we listened to the music that first class passengers would have danced to in the ballroom with a Waltz and a Tango, with some of us having a go at the dancing or adding in percussion to keep the beat.
Then we moved to the Third class, where we heard traditional songs jigs and reels from Ireland and Scotland.
We were lucky enough to hear and see an accordion, clarinet, penny whistle and saxophone being played. We shared things that we noticed about the music as well as our responses and opinions.
